Mudpack Body Painting Is About Habitat Protection

The Mudpack festival is celebrated to pay homage to mother Earth and to nurture its preservation. It is the Negrenses’ way of giving importance to the environment. Through the festival, it is hope to raise the level of awareness of the people on environmental issues.

Negros Occidental 3rd District Board Member Patrick Lacson said the clay body painting competition as part of the Mudpack Festival is one of the most unique and illustrative of habitat protection's ecological "connectivity" towards survival.

The famous Mambukal Mountain Resort in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental is the host for this festival. The festival is a symbolic celebration of man’s return to primitive time when he was closer to nature. Oneness with nature is the underlying theme behind this annual mud-moving spectacle. Check on its murky highlight - a lively street dancing parade with the participant wearing nothing but mudpacks (well, almost...). It's a surefire way to mix our ecological concerns with good, clean, cloddy fun - just be sure to shower afterwards!

The much anticipated Mudpack Festival is celebrated every third weekend of June at Mambukal Resort. The Mudpack Festival is a symbolic presentation that seeks to instill awareness in caring for the environment. Dancers are painted and coated with colorful mud found abundant in the resort.
