Woman In New Abstract Design For Body Art Painting

in fact we are fond of painting our bodies since prehistoric times. In past we were used to paint our bodies with materials like natural dyes, paints and pigments. In some cases we used ash, and clay, too.

The art of body painting is not a new phenomenon in the countries of South America, too. People here have been using indigenous materials to paint their body and body parts. They use wet charcoal and other materials available in the local surrounding. In some parts of America, a material known as Huito is used to paint the bodies and faces. Huito is a black dye, and it takes weeks to fade away.

Color Mundo Make-Up Convention Of Paintspecializes in body painting & special effects beauty. This is Color Mundo's 2nd year and Montreal's 1st Face/Body Painting Competition. There were representations there from all of the industry's product providers (MAC, Mehron, Krylon), workshops, and more.

I participated in the Brush & Sponge section of the body painting competition. The theme for this year's event was Ecology & Destruction; a theme which is close to my heart and I feel is very prevelent in the world at this time. The competition requirements were for 80% of the skin to be painted and to pay attention to every detail, down to even making sure the space between the toes is painted as well. I choose to use the symbols of the dragon and the phoenix with the tree of life, pollution symbols, and a drain with sludge coming out of the roots of the tree of life. The dragon in this situation represented destruction of the environment, the phoenix represented nature's way of returning and recovering for it is the phoenix which rises from it's own ashes, young, healthy and strong.

American artist Craig Tracy from New Orleans has created a collection that could be regarded as some of the best body painting in the world. Some of his paintings use only human volunteers while on others he merges them with backdrops to give the display depth. Some of his creations are so complex it’s difficult to work out where the bodies start and the background begins like the below “leopard” one.

The creature’s eyes, cheeks and chin have been painted onto the floor while the back of a female volunteer forms the rest of its face – her bottom is used as the big cat’s nose and top lip.

I know your wondering....... gee Sweet Loretta w
hat happened at the North American Body
Painting Championships? All I can say is what happens in vegas, stays........ Ok it really does end up on Facebook and Myspace!

I'll have to take my friend Craig's advise and "grow an ego" meaning I'll just have to get serious! However, I was not into painting that weekend, my heart was with my friends but not in my art - so I went and did my best to hold up the very bottom of the pack. If only the had been giving a finger painting award.......hey wait I do recall an abstract artist using real professional body makeup for the first time making it into the finals. I was the only artist competing who I heard say they liked the artwork... but see, so did the judges. Thankfully we do not all paint the same... now would that not just be so boring?

I was happy to see Scott Fray with his sidekick Foxy Moxy there. His work has a simplicity and to it, Craig Tracy called it tribal - not sure I can label it but it speaks to my soul. I really liked Sandra Gariby prelim artwork - very urban and very fresh - I knew her originality would place her into the finals. Of course there was so much more I loved. As in Austria more paintings in the finals there branding themselves - barf - love my friends hate it when they use this type of platform to brand themselves. Keep that at home for the marketing campaign - we get it! Give us your real art. I mean if you can only get photos here - then your not really doing enough body painting. Not all who paint bodies are body painters.........

I will say it was rockn' fun to see so much kindered talent in one place - as always a great group of amazing artists, seasoned and rising talents.

In all it was certainly a first event, some broken rules and a lack of follow through by the organizers, and as noted in another blog as there are politics in painting, no one wants to scold aloud a top talent, or point out that some noted ranking high again celebrity's again isn't really better than some one who ranked in the middle or that a new look albeit new - isn't necessarily good.
Ah art is indeed subjective - if you compete you must trust the judges and let it go, and if you grumble be willing to do so aloud. If you stay silent, improvements can not be made and we all lose. Growing an art form take - of god will I write it ... ok it takes a tribe. Be part of it in full it you really want to evolve... but I digress
..... and there were established painters who we don't normally see, who came out simply because there was a cash prize..... we all like money.....

in all it was simply a very good and wonderful event.

I've seen a few AP type blogs and photos around - but no better pictures than my friends and fellow artist Robbie Hay took of the finals on stage - I'll have to get those, but alas she is a bit computer naive and can't seem to figure it all out. I love her.

I will say the photographers did not show up and they - you guys really missed out!

Great art - my crummy pics - I always get to wrapped up to take photos! and I was dummping about 8,000 yes 8,000 face and body pics off my two computers and lost a few of these - but enjoy.

Special Kind Of Body painting And Make Up

A special kind of body art is the body painting and makeup. This is the easiest and most common kind of body art. There are thousands of events where body is painted. Whether you are cheering for your team or just watching a live parade body painting makes you look perfect. People prefer painting their body and makeup for many reasons which include portraying their thoughts and feeling or just expressing their creativity. The process of body painting and makeup requires skills which take years to master. Many people paint their bodies just for fun. Clown put on makeup and painting to make themselves unique and funny. Similarly other people prefer body painting to make them look special and exceptional.

Painting the body and makeup requires special kinds of cosmetics and paint. These are easily available online on many websites. Be sure to use the right product which is approved by the FDA. For getting your body painted the first step is to imagine the painting that you want on your body. It is a better idea to draw the painting so that it is easier for the professional painter to easily paint your body. Although most people prefer painting on their face and chest but there are some who want their body to be completely painted. The next step is to get the right products and cosmetics for the body painting and makeup. In case if you are going to professional body painter, than the previous step is not required. Clean your body before getting it painted as it will help remove the dust and create a uniform film of paint on your body. Now be patient while the professional paints your body. After the process is complete than the part of drying the paint comes. The paint can be dried by a dryer or by standing under a fan. Once the drying process is complete so is the process of body painting.

There are some events in which people are naked and their bodies are painted and they have makeup on their face. One such event is Fremont Solstice Parade. In this event cyclist are naked with their whole bodies covered in paint. Although this event may seem bizarre but people really enjoy this exciting event. Body painting and makeup is a way of expressing thoughts and feeling. It makes people unique from others. Many people paint their bodies during protests to help other people and the government understands their true meaning. Body painting is truly exquisite.

The Beauty of Body Painting Art

The Beauty of Body Painting Art

The Beauty of Body Painting ArtThe Beauty of Body Painting Art

Since the beginning of time, humans have always had the desire to create art. Through this desire body painting was born, making the human body the first canvass. The history of this craft stretches so far back that historians consider it to be the earliest form of art. Compared to other types of body art like tattoos or piercing, this is impermanent. It lasts only for a few hours at most.
During the ancient times, tribes would often use this during celebrations and important ceremonies. Each color had its own corresponding meaning. Chieftains and warriors commonly had their own styles to indicate their status in the tribe. Around the 12th century, a new kind of body painting known as the Mehendi became popular. The Mehendi is an extremely old ritual that originated from Egypt. It is the art of using henna to paint the body. This type of dye usually lasts a little longer, about a 1-2 weeks before fading. Natives of South America also had their own methods of ornamenting their bodies. They would use wet charcoal also known as huito. Like henna, huito is also semi-permanent lasting for a few weeks.

In today's modern era, this has become a way of self-expression. This has been spurred on by the liberality of modern society. If before nudity was deemed by society as inappropriate and improper, now it is something to be flaunted. In the guise of self-expression and the practice of human freedom, this has become a means of grabbing the public's attention. This is especially effective during protests and rallies. Instead of bringing placards and sign boards, the protesters would instead paint on themselves.
The art of body painting can morph a human being into a beautiful work of art. It can make a statement that words alone cannot express, create a more appealing presentation, and add meaning and significance to an important occasion. It is used not only for the living, but also to preserve the dead. Truly it has attained world wide significance that will last till the end of time

Body art is extremely popular all over the world and includes anything that consists of the human body. Some of the most popular types of body art are tattoos, and piercings but other types of body art involve air brushing, scarring, branding, scalpelling, shaping with corsets and lace and body painting. In addition, body art encompasses nose rings, dydos, bangles, rings, makeup, studs, nose pins, and lip plates. There are more extreme types of body art involving mutilation, or pushing the physical limits of the body. Marina Abramovic is a body artist and her exhibit involved her dancing until she collapsed from tiring out. Dennis Oppenheim is another example of a body artist where he suntanned until he burned while holding a book to his chest – thus he had an outline of the book on his chest. On a less extreme level body art is a form of decorating the body, and emphasizing or showing off a certain feature.

Earlier this summer I met some wonderful neighborswhich happen to have a lot of common liking. They have a pretty 17 month old who loves to share toys and sippy cup with Mariann, they're using cloth diapers and have no TV in their living room...
And the mommy, which is about the same age than me, is an artist.
Their house is full of her paintings, the living room full with on going projects.
She also tattoos and body paint for a living
Yesterday, on one of our frequent visit (the babies get along so well and are way easier to entertain that way!) we talked about her body painting and something lighted in her head: She suddenly remembered she wanted a belly for her porte-folio!

She pretty much had it right in her face for some month....

So we "set an appointment" for this morning.
This is what came out after about one hour of work.

I love the twist she put to it, and it looked so easy to do! Each time I go there I feel like painting... then I remember all my sewing projects the mess painting makes...
It was a great experience and we're meant to do another one if I'm still pregnant when she arrives from a trip for a body painting contract.
I'm 37 weeks today, which is considered at term. Those makes such wonderful pictures! She took some with her own camera and they came out really great, can't wait to show you those :)
